The leaves have all changed colors. The wind is just a little cooler. Thanksgiving is over and Christmas is coming! I love the holidays. I get to spend an increased amount of time with family that I don’t always get to see. I get to buy or make adorable, fun Christmas gifts for nieces and nephews, as well as my friends and family. Happy New Year Love!!! Yea, I know I’m late, but I promise it will be worth it! The beginning of the year is generally the time where most people make resolution, promises, vows to change, and set new intentions for the year.  It is a time to start fresh, and clean house….mentally and physically.  Most of the time, I see physical-based resolutions being made and it seems that taking care of your mental health is left my the wayside. My personal goal for the year was to take better care of myself.  I started this with a journal and a planner. So, I loved to journal growing up! No…SERIOUSLY!!  I have journals for days, filled and empty. Writing was my happy place.   I wrote everything down, the good and the bad.  Writing kept my thoughts and heart at peace when everything around me felt like chaos.  I owe some of…

Hey Folks!! I had the opportunity to be a guest blogger on site Neno Natural this week!  I was featured on there before as a Queen of Kinks.  I’d love for you all check out the article in the link below.  If you had a chance to catch me on People Passion Politics with Host Robert Patillo, we had an extensive conversation about issues people have with black hair!  Let me know what think! A couple weeks ago, I had to learn this lesson the hard way, and I only started with knowing my worth… I was approached by a company that I love, to be a hair model for them.  I was absolutely excited.  I don’t often get to ask to do these things.  Now I’m pretty awesome and cute, but I have some blogger friends who are even more awesome.  So the fact that I’m even being considered sent me over the moon!  Anyway, when I initially inquired about the details of the shoot (Read: Model Contract), I kind of grazed over the “are we being paid” part?  The answer however was, “I don’t think so but I’ll email you all the details.” Let’s fast forward to a week later… We are a few days out from the fitting, and people have gone shopping for clothes for all the models.  I ask again…

Hello Folks!! I have missed you all so much!!  My life has been just a little bit hectic, but I am happy to say that I have returned!!! And I have a giveaway for you!!  I went to the 3rd Annual Naturally Pretty event on Oct. 17 as a volunteer this year.  Last year, I sang at it with a band, and was there in general to support my friends!  I had pleasure working at the event this year along with several other volunteers who helped make the event a success.  And of course as a token of their appreciation, they gave us Swag Bags, which I can give to you!!!!  Here is the video of what you’ll get and a recap of the event! Here is what you have to do: 1. You must be a fan of my FB Page. 2. Answer the question in the rafflecopter: What…

It was more than exhilarating to run the Fire Fly 5K, it was literally like a dream come true! After training for the past 8 weeks, I could finally see the fruits of my labor! I’m pretty sure I’ve never done anything more difficult than running in general, but I loved every minute of it! The biggest thing that I took away from this 5K was a very simple notion: I CAN do it! There is something to be said about anyone that accomplishes a goal that they have set for themselves. It creates this amazing feeling of self-worth and a healthy feeling of pride. As determined as I can be about certain things in my life, I suck at setting and achieving goals. I can say I’ll do something and do it, but when you add a time line to it I’m like, “Welp…..” This is probably the first…

Hey y’all!! I know I haven’t posted in a month but this 5k training has been kicking my butt with all the running and weight lifting. It makes me very tired, sore, and SLIM!! WHAT WHAT!!! This make me happy and keeps me going! There have been many tears shed on this journey to a 5k, but I’m learning that with lots of prayer and self-confidence I really can do any thing! In my previous post, I wasn’t sure what I was gonna do with my hair, but now I’ve got it all figured out! I wear my hair in big twists in a pony tail, tied down with a scarf! This way there is no detangling involved. I still only wash my hair once a week! Wooo hooo!! So here are the biggest lessons I’ve learned over the past 7 weeks. 1. Wear a scarf/head tie/bandana. I say this…

Thats right folks! This bottom heavy, natural-hair woman before you is training for a 5K!! Its call the Fire Fly Run. It takes place Saturday night, October 5, 2013. Two things you should know about me before you ask questions: 1. I never done this before. 2. I also am not a runner. As in… I. DONT. RUN. EVER! Nonetheless, I am very excited to do it! This is the end of week one for me. I train 3 days a week with the app C25K from Zen Labs. The other days, I’m usually in a Zumba class. I am supposed to be adding some strength training for endurance this coming week, but I really have no clue what I am doing! Thank God for friends who are personal trainers and such because they are helping me plan a strength training routine. Once I have it I’ll gladly post it.…
