The circulation of blood within the scalp helps your hair to grow healthy and strong, but having to deal with hair issues after you work out is an issue all naturals face. If you’ve noticed you have a considerable amount of dryness and frizz after a workout, you’re not alone. Your hair will probably survive yoga just fine, but bring…

It was more than exhilarating to run the Fire Fly 5K, it was literally like a dream come true! After training for the past 8 weeks, I could finally see the fruits of my labor! I’m pretty sure I’ve never done anything more difficult than running in general, but I loved every minute of it! The biggest thing that I took away from this 5K was a very simple notion: I CAN do it! There is something to be said about anyone that accomplishes a goal that they have set for themselves. It creates this amazing feeling of self-worth and a healthy feeling of pride. As determined as I can be about certain things in my life, I suck at setting and achieving goals. I can say I’ll do something and do it, but when you add a time line to it I’m like, “Welp…..” This is probably the first…

Hey y’all!! I know I haven’t posted in a month but this 5k training has been kicking my butt with all the running and weight lifting. It makes me very tired, sore, and SLIM!! WHAT WHAT!!! This make me happy and keeps me going! There have been many tears shed on this journey to a 5k, but I’m learning that with lots of prayer and self-confidence I really can do any thing! In my previous post, I wasn’t sure what I was gonna do with my hair, but now I’ve got it all figured out! I wear my hair in big twists in a pony tail, tied down with a scarf! This way there is no detangling involved. I still only wash my hair once a week! Wooo hooo!! So here are the biggest lessons I’ve learned over the past 7 weeks. 1. Wear a scarf/head tie/bandana. I say this…

Thats right folks! This bottom heavy, natural-hair woman before you is training for a 5K!! Its call the Fire Fly Run. It takes place Saturday night, October 5, 2013. Two things you should know about me before you ask questions: 1. I never done this before. 2. I also am not a runner. As in… I. DONT. RUN. EVER! Nonetheless, I am very excited to do it! This is the end of week one for me. I train 3 days a week with the app C25K from Zen Labs. The other days, I’m usually in a Zumba class. I am supposed to be adding some strength training for endurance this coming week, but I really have no clue what I am doing! Thank God for friends who are personal trainers and such because they are helping me plan a strength training routine. Once I have it I’ll gladly post it.…

Most of you probably don’t kno, but I have struggled with weight for a very long time. Every year I try to tackle it, and every year I don’t quite fail, but I don’t really succeed either. We this year is gonna be different. I recently purchase a Groupon for medical weight loss through Medical Weigh Loss Solutions. This was and is my last time trying to do this. And I only say that because every time I build up my hopes, they seem to get diminished and I lose more and more self-confidence. I’m tired of feeling like I don’t look pretty or I don’t have the perfect body shape. This is the most debilitating feeling and frame of mind ever! So I decided to give it one last shot with this Groupon and boy was I in for a shock! I just completed my first week with them on 1/30/13 and…

As I was thinking of what to do for my last challenge, I came across this inspirational morning message from one of my facebook friends Jesskiah! You can check her out here: {ROOT/TIME} NTARY She has a different message almost everyday, but this particular one….I needed this one. “Today, let’s get rid of bad habits. We use that famous line ‘Well… it’s not THAT bad!’ or we try to compare our bad habit to something totally terrible just to minimize it and make ourselves feel better about it. NOT TODAY! Call that thing what it is! Call that habit by name so you can take control and get rid of it properly. While we are trying to make nice and be comfortable with the things that could potentially destroy us…remember forest fire doesn’t start out as a RAGING ball of flames…it only takes a spark. Let’s make it a good…
