A couple weeks ago, I had to learn this lesson the hard way, and I only started with knowing my worth… I was approached by a company that I love, to be a hair model for them.  I was absolutely excited.  I don’t often get to ask to do these things.  Now I’m pretty awesome and cute, but I have some blogger friends who are even more awesome.  So the fact that I’m even being considered sent me over the moon!  Anyway, when I initially inquired about the details of the shoot (Read: Model Contract), I kind of grazed over the “are we being paid” part?  The answer however was, “I don’t think so but I’ll email you all the details.” Let’s fast forward to a week later… We are a few days out from the fitting, and people have gone shopping for clothes for all the models.  I ask again…

Be it Summer or Winter, our hair seems to crave moisture! AND….the tighter the curl, the more moisture you need. For me, it seems that my hair can never get enough, so today I’m sharing my top fave ways to get and retain moisture. These are in no particular order because all of them are important!!! 1. Use moisturizing products.  I love products that are water based and moisture rich!  And for me, it begins with my shampoo.  I use a clarifying shampoo to clean my scalp and remove product from my strands as well as moisturizing shampoo.  Clean hair ensures that I am giving my hair the best possible chance to receive moisture.  Using hair lotions/moisturizers and butters or oil to seal in moisture, give me the the upper hand in the battle of dry hair! 2. Deep condition (more often)!  I love my deep conditioners!  They are such…

My first official post of the new year!!!!  I’m so excited!!  Well, let’s jump right in! For about a month and a half, I’ve been taking the Manechoice Manetabolism Plus Vitamins.  Not only are they hair vitamins, but they are a full blown multivitamin!!  You get the best of both worlds with these pills.   I wanted to try the vitamins and track my hair growth to see how well they worked in comparison to other vitamins that I have tried in the past.    So far, I am please and you will see why shortly. What sold me on purchasing this company’s vitamins versus others was that the is a Black Female-owned company!!  Take a look at my hair history, beginning length, and my 1 month update in the video below!  Under the video are side-by-side pics to show you the growth.  Tell me what you think! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOaoua5YuNs

I’ve come to realize that for many people, keeping up with today’s fashions standard or standard for beauty/body is almost impossible!!  You must be deathly skinny or tall…. or long-haired, or whatever.  Unfortunately, I’m just barely make the “cut”, only because my hair is long.  Yet, because its natural and hardly ever straight, I am usually lumped back at square one!  I’m short (5’2.5″, and you will give me my 1/2 inch lol) and I am considered plus-sized/thick/curvy (my personal preference). And to add to my lovely list,  I got pregnant in 2015, which I was more than happy about.  I’ll put my stats at the bottom to give you an idea of my shape and size. Be nice…I don’t share this info with anyone, and it took 12 years to share it with my husband, and we’ve been married for 8! So, pre-pregnancy, I can honestly say I had body…

I’m a firm believer that everyone goes through a period of boredom with their hair.  I’ve been bored for well over a year!  I had been toying with the idea of coloring my hair, but because we got pregnant, I was told that I should wait if I was worried about breathing in too many chemicals.  And so, I waited…an extra 9 months!!! Once my son was born, I thought nothing of coloring my hair.  I just wanted to sleep at night and keep my hair out of his face.  So for the most part, since he’s been born, it’s been up and out of the way, be it styled or uncouth lol! Looking through instagram a couple weeks ago, my stylist Codie of Loop Salon posted a pic requesting a hair model!  Loop Salon holds classes for their stylists to keep them fresh and educated on all things hair…
